Their sleek stainless steel look. Compartmentalized for perfect portion control. Dishwasher safe (though I still need a dishwasher to actually enjoy *that* part, HA!). Fun magnets that are appealing to kids. Waste free and eco-friendly.
So, imagine how thrilled I was when PlanetBox offered me one of their new Shuttle Systems for review and use.
Little Miss and I have both put the box to the "test" and enjoyed packing our allergy friendly & gluten free lunches inside!
The Shuttle features two compartments and a tall dipper container, perfect for dips & sauces.
The Complete System also comes with a stylish carrying bag for the Shuttle itself. You have an offering of four fun bag designs and magnets to choose from.
The Shuttle measures 7.75" x 5 x 2". When I received mine, I was actually surprised at how small it was (not gonna lie). As we started using our Shuttle, I once again amazed myself at how much food I was able to actually pack in it!
Here Little Miss enjoyed Gluten Free Chicken Strips and Organic Ketchup packed in her Tall Dipper. She also had Organic Baby Carrots and Organic Grapes packed. Perfect size and a perfect meal!
On this particular morning, I hadn't made lunches the night before and was a bit in a rush to get out the door. So I whipped up some chicken salad for Little Miss and I both that day (made with Earth Balance Vegan Mindful Mayo), CrunchMaster Vegan & Gluten Free Sea Salt Crackers, Organic Carrot, Organic Apple Slices, and an EnjoyLife Foods Top 8 & Gluten Free Cocoa Loco Bar. Again, a lot of fun packed into a tiny box! Love it.
Inspired by MOMables, we made tuna salad "sandwich sticks" using Udi's gluten, dairy, nut, & soy free bread and Earth Balance Vegan Mindful Mayo. Also packed was Organic Carrot (stacked), Annie's Homegrown Gluten Free Bunny Cookies, and watermelon balls.
The Shuttle is great for adults too! Here I packed up leftover Rosemary Lemon Chicken, BBQ sauce in my Tall Dipper, leftover veggie rice, and a blackberry & strawberry fruit mix.
The one downfall may be that PlanetBox's are not microwavable. Even so, I enjoyed the above lunch perfectly at room temperature. So, just keep that in mind when packing your foods.
I think the Shuttle is the perfect size bento box for my family. Little Miss and I are really enjoying using it! It's easy to clean, compact, and durable.
Another item to keep in mind is the carrying bag. There is little to no extra room after you pack the Shuttle. I was able to fit a fork and napkin in, but if you're also packing snacks and a drink then the bag will not work. However, you can always pack the Shuttle itself inside a larger lunch box you already own, that way you can fit a drink and snack along side it.
